My photo
Welcome! As "Annie in Austin" I blog about gardening in Austin, TX with occasional looks back at our former gardens in Illinois. My husband Philo & I also make videos - some use garden images as background for my original songs, some capture Austin events & sometimes we share videos of birds in our garden. Come talk about gardens, movies, music, genealogy and Austin at the Transplantable Rose and listen to my original songs on YouTube. For an overview read Three Gardens, Twenty Years. Stevie Ray Statue, Austin Texas

Philo took this photo of the large statue of musician Stevie Ray Vaughan on the South side of Ladybird Lake [the new name for Town Lake]. If you reuse the photo - give credit to this blog. The area is called Auditorium Shores Park. Practically everyone gets their photo taken with Stevie - it's a favorite with marathoners after the run.

Annie...! What a cool statue. As you know, I love Stevie Ray Vaughan. I also love jazz and opera, but there is just something about blues guitar, and Stevie Ray Vaughan was the best!

Cheers,
Josie

Annie, I just found your addendum through your comment on MSS's construction debacle, and I'm here to say I really miss Stevie Ray Vaughan. I'm putting his greatest hits in the CD player right now. I also liked his brother Jimmie in the Fabulous Thunderbirds way back before they were really famous, but I haven't kept up with him.

Hi Entangled,

There are so many times that a comment is incomplete without an illustration - that was the reason for making another blog! An extra blog had been on my mind for awhile, and when Josie posted about Stevie Ray, Ki told me how to set it up so I could show her my photo of the statue.

We have a few SRV albums, too. Check out his brother Jimmy here:
