A Garden Bloggers Bloom Day post will be found at my Transplantable Rose blog. (The Addendum is where I keep the lists.) These plants were in bloom in my Austin, Texas garden on January 15, 2012:
Antirrhinum majus, Yellow snapdragons, annuals, 6 plants in containers
Camellia japonica 'Morning Glow' double white camellia - a few swelling buds, no open flowers
Camellia sasanqua 'Shishi Gashira' - has been in bloom for weeks and weeks
Cyclamen persicum/ florist’s cyclamen hybrids, houseplants, one with red flowers, one with white
Eriobotrya japonica, Loquat, Japanese Plum, just a few flowers remain but quite a few have set fruit
Justicia brandegeana, Shrimp plant in Secret Garden - not showy but steady bloom
Lantana, unknown varieties trailing, light purple, in parkway & central front bed
Loropetalum chinense/ Chinese Witch Hazel, Chinese Fringe Flower, Razzle-Dazzle, two plants, one large, one fairly new. Tall one has been in bloom for weeks
Lupinus texensis, Bluebonnet - several buds and one in bloom. Plants apparently seeded late and survived heat in shade of annual cosmos
Mahonia, species probably bealei, grape holly, blooming in front container
Matthiola, unknown hybrid, purple-flowering fragrant stock in container. I'm not sure whether it resprouted from roots of spring plant or reseeded.
Narcissus tazetta? unlabelled paperwhite hybrids, a few are still blooming in front but in back the plants made leaves only, no flowers
Narcissus tazetta ‘Grand Primo/ small daffodil, began to open flowers a couple of days ago. No wonder Scott Ogden recommends this one!

Oxalis crassipes 'Alba', a few flowers
Oxalis regnellii 'Atropurpurea', some of the many plants tucked around the yard have flowers

- Annie in Austin
- Welcome! As "Annie in Austin" I blog about gardening in Austin, TX with occasional looks back at our former gardens in Illinois. My husband Philo & I also make videos - some use garden images as background for my original songs, some capture Austin events & sometimes we share videos of birds in our garden. Come talk about gardens, movies, music, genealogy and Austin at the Transplantable Rose and listen to my original songs on YouTube. For an overview read Three Gardens, Twenty Years.
